About this image
NGC 6934 – An Ancient Stellar City
Deep within the constellation Delphinus (the Dolphin), around 50,000 light-years from Earth, lies NGC 6934, also known as Caldwell 47.
This beautiful globular cluster contains hundreds of thousands of stars, tightly bound together by gravity. Estimated to be around 10 billion years old, these stars are among the ancient survivors of our Milky Way's early history.
Discovered by William Herschel in 1785, NGC 6934 is a remarkable reminder of just how old and vast our galaxy really is.
